We were learning to write a recount about diving giraffes, we watched an animated YouTube video that had diving giraffes in it. We had to pretend that we were journalists, slowly observing what was happening. We had to use onomatopoeia, alliteration, good verbs and adjectives, to make sure that our writing was level 3.
I found it easy to set where my story took place, when my story took place, and what was going to happen in my story. I also found it easy to place good describing words like "magical". The same goes for verbs, I used "sprinted", "leaped" and, "clattered".
I found it hard to use a variety of sentence starters because I couldn't really think of. I kind of stuck with "they" for sentence starters. I also found it hard to decide what title to use.
I enjoyed describing what the giraffes looked like because adjectives are my strong-suit and I work really well with them. I enjoyed writing the " what are we witnessing here!?" because I like writing things that are dramatised.
Next time I need to try and add more onomatopoeia and similes because I didn't add so many in this piece of writing. That is my goal for the next piece of writing I write.
