Decorate A Christmas Tree

We were learning to write what we were thankful for this year and write it into the box. Next, we had to decorate the Christmas tree on the left-hand side. Using a wide variety of ornaments with letters or just plain colours, lights, tinsel, holly, and different stars.

I found it easy to choose what I was thankful for this year because our year six camp didn't happen too long ago. Therefore I remember our teachers telling us that had been struggling to find something for us to do.

I found it hard to decide how I should have ended my message because I'm not great at wrapping up short messages like this one.

I really enjoyed selecting which decorations I placed on my Christmas tree because one of my favourite things to do is decorating. There was a wide selection of decoration to place on my tree, and I chose red and yellow lights, three huge ornaments, and one bright yellow star.

Diving Giraffes

We were learning to write a recount about diving giraffes, we watched an animated YouTube video that had diving giraffes in it. We had to pretend that we were journalists, slowly observing  what was happening. We had to use onomatopoeia, alliteration,  good verbs and adjectives, to make sure that our writing was level 3.

I found it easy to set where my story took place, when my story took place, and what was going to happen in my story. I also found it easy to place good describing words like "magical". The same goes for verbs, I used "sprinted", "leaped" and, "clattered".

I found it hard to use a variety of sentence starters because I couldn't really think of. I kind of stuck with "they" for sentence starters. I also found it hard to decide what title to use.

I enjoyed describing what the giraffes looked like because adjectives are my strong-suit and I work really well with them.  I enjoyed writing the " what are we witnessing here!?" because I like writing things that are dramatised.

Next time I need to try and add more onomatopoeia and similes because I didn't add so many in this piece of writing. That is my goal for the next piece of writing I write.

Onomatopoeia Fireworks Poem

Onomatopoeia is describing a sound that you hear such as " POW" or "SPLAT".  That was one of our  focuses for our poem. Our learning asset was whai whakaaro\ thinker.
A few parts were hard for me because finding the right words to rhyme with the words that I wrote in my poem were quite difficult because the sentence fireworks are always fun, you never want it to end,

but you just have to be patient and wait until next year. That sentence didn't rhyme so that kind of let me down in my poem. The easiest parts of being a thinker were adding onomatopoeia in to my poem as well as repeating it at the end of my poem. Next time I need to add better adjectives to describe my poem.

Te Whare Tapa Wha: Pink Shirt Day 2021

Te whare tapa wha is the four walls that keep you whare safe. The walls are Taha whanau- Family and social, Taha tinana- physical, Taha Wairua-spiritual, and Taha hinengaro- Mental and emotional. Each wall is called a pou. The whare is you and the four walls are what helps you stay standing and if someone hurts you physically or emotionally your wall will fall down and you have to do what you love tp fix and put it back together.

Our learning asset was to be a thinker.  That means that you have to think hard about the images that you place in your slide because it has to be the truth about what you believe in, what you do to stay active, how you stay connected with your family, and what makes you happy.

I think that I thought hard about all my images because they match my personality as well as how I think.
Also next time I think I should try to have more thoughts about adding maybe four images because I found it really hard to choose between some of them.

Ancient Creature

I was focusing on being a communicator and to share my ideas through writing and trying to add smiles, alliteration, adjectives, verbs and other level four criteria. I had to describe my ancient creature with lots and lots of detail and describing words.

Next time I need to think about more alliteration because I don't think I added quite a lot because like have interest in my writing.

Famous New Zealander\Jacinda Ardern

I learnt more skills as a communicator because I was able to communicate with other people on my table and we shared our ideas with each other so we could all type our five questions and our notes.

I used Kaiwhakarite to finish all twelve of my comic panels and had it finished on time to post on my blog. It was fun creating my comic because using a different resource to show my learning. Comix is fun and easy to use because there is wide variety of props and objects to add to your comic strip.

I was a researcher to search up my notes to add to my comic strip. Researching different questions to find out more about Jacinda Ardern helped me to find better ways to present my learning. I think that the questions I asked were good ones because I had gotten an answer to all of them.

Then & Now

I asked questions to Mrs Leggett to find out how school was back then because she had desks and we don't. Another thing we don't have is a blackboard. Teachers don't need a blackboard because they can plan it all on slides the night before and show the children the next day.

I think that I stayed organized with all of my ideas because I set them all into paragraphs. I thought that I had a good time brainstorming ideas because I had a lot of ideas to put in my writing. I know I can research if I am unsure about something.

I communicated with the readers of my story because I used screencastify to record my story. I also used images to show my thinking as well as comparing what it was like in the 1900's because there is a very big difference. Therefore I am a communicator.

I organized my ideas\information I had gathered into different paragraphs to show my thinking and I thought that I kept on track of time because I finished my presentation pretty quickly. I self managed myself.

When I think about how well I wrote my story I thought that I could have completed my task faster if I sat with my friends sometimes and not all the time. Now I know that I can self manage myself more.

I showed Kaiwhakarite because I finished on time and I also I asked for help by my teacher Mrs Hall to see how to add my screencastify to my presentation.

Early life in Aotearoa: The Rain Bird

We were learning to use polyline and curve to make a new species because the instructions said that if we were one of the first polynesians to arrive in New Zealand, what would you see instead of all the trees, bushes, and dirt.

I found it easy to use curve to create the log and little textures inside it as well. It was easy to come up with the description with ts behaviour and how its acts.

I found it hard to find an image online to add on to with curve and polyline because I find it hard to control mouse moving it around to create this new species.

I really enjoyed making  a gradient for the extra feathers that are on the sides and on the head of the bird because I thought that they were a great mix of colours that looked good with all the different shades of colours.

Next time I need to think about putting more effort into polylining and curving all I have added are some feathers, eyes and a beak.

Change Poem

We were learning to write a poem about change and what change meant to us. We had to brainstorm as many ideas as we could about change e.g: Change is friendships, climate, money, etc. There are many possible ways to show change.

I found it easy to choose the one word that sums up change in that one word fits the word CHANGE. It was easy to decide what nine ideas I put in my poem because everyone wrote down their ideas on sheets of papers that were all around the classroom.

I found it hard to decide what font I was going to choose for this poem because I like many fonts but I like the font I chose the most.

I enjoyed making a gradient for my background because I like the mix of soft pink and pastel yellow. I also found it fun to walk around the class write my ideas down for what change meant to me because I have many reasons why change is very important.

Next time I need to think about level 3 vocab in my poem because I think I could use some work on that.

Where I learn best

We were learning to create a slide about where we learn best in the Room 3. Room 3 is a very big classroom and a quiet place to do your work whether you would like to focus on your work there are three places you can go to: The cubby holes. The room four work space. Also the on the mat.

I found it easy to decide where I was going to take the selfie and who I was going to do it with. It was not challenging to create gradients for my text box and background because I love using colours on slides.

I found it hard to whether I wanted to write about one place I like working at or two. It was hard to decide where I was going to place my chromebook in room four because there wasn't many places to put my device.

I enjoyed using different fonts and colours on this slide because lots of different shades of colours to choose from for my background and text box. I liked working with my friend Milah and Holly because we had photos that were AMAZING and photos that were really BAD.

Next time I need to think about using more level three vocab in my reflection underneath my title because I think I can do much better than before.
